Job Description: Responsible for ensuring that equipment and machinery is assembled to a high standard, within expected timelines. Helping the team provide an Exceptional Customer Experience by achieving our Operational Excellence goals of on-time shipments, zero warranty, and vertical start-ups at our customers facilities. Whilst driving continuous improvement, promoting good teamwork, and acting in line with the company’s policies and values. GENERAL PURPOSE, PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities Read and analyse assembly drawings, bills of material and specification, to plan machine build operations Fit and assemble components according to specifications. Using correct tools and recognised engineering methods, while verifying conformance of parts Communicate any build and documentation issues to Operational Leadership and/or Engineering Mark all fasteners and sign worksheet, to confirm torque and quality checks have been completed Support internal and customer pre-delivery inspections. Debug assemblies and machines by identifying and correcting problems affecting proper operation. Dismantle equipment and assist with packing and loading if required Ensure that time is booked to the relevant manufacturing order. Providing training, guidance, and support to apprentices and other members of the assembly team to increase their skills and knowledge base Identify process & product improvements and innovation opportunities utilising Lean tools Clean and organise all equipment and work areas, ensuring they are always free from hazards and customer ready Comply with all Health & Safety legislation and BWIS company policies & procedures Ensure safety glasses and shoes are always worn in the assembly areas along with additional PPE when required Be available & have flexibility to work overtime on evenings and weekends if or when it is required The above description is a general statement of required major duties and responsibilities performed on a regular and continuous basis. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE Completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship. Qualified preferably to ONC/HNC in a mechanical engineering subject. 3 years minimum experience in machine building and set up in a manufacturing environment. Experience preferably in the packaging industry with emphasis on machine build KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Ability to read and understand drawings and build specifications. Able to operate machine tools; namely milling machines and lathes. Demonstrates attention to detail. Ability to complete tasks with limited supervision on a timely basis. Ability to trouble shoot and provide workable solutions. Takes responsibility for own actions with emphasis on attendance, punctuality and appearance. Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
