Diagnostic Radiographer/Clinical Technologist, Band 5

A post has become available for a permanent Band 5 Radiographer/ Clinical Technologist to join the existing Nuclear Medicine team of 20.5 WTE staff. This is an interesting and varied role providing support to the day-to-day operations of the Nuclear Medicine imaging departments.
There are three gamma cameras, two with SPECT-CT capability. There is a SPECT-CT gamma camera operated on both Gloucester and Cheltenham Trust sites. At Gloucester Trust site, a new SPECT-CT gamma camera has recently been installed and the department has been upgraded.
This post is primarily to support the Cheltenham site, yet flexibility and travel between the sites will be required.
This is an exciting time to join the department as the first of 2 new gamma cameras has been installed.
Additional working pattern details: Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the team and support the existing staff with the diagnostic imaging service. Applications are welcomed from candidates with a Nuclear Medicine, Radiography or Medical Physics background who possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
Job responsibilities
Qualifications:
* The post holder must be qualified to BSc level in a relevant science subject, or a qualified Radiographer. Specialist knowledge is acquired through short courses and updates.
* For Clinical Technologists, after a 3-year qualifying time and completion of a Portfolio, they should be eligible for inclusion on the Voluntary Register of Clinical Technologists. Technical/Incorporated Membership of the IPEM is desirable.
Experience:
* Time to obtain the aforementioned qualifications normally 3 years of training.
Other Skills:
* Good team working skills.
* Ability to work on own initiative within competencies achieved.
* Good keyboard skills for the manipulation of images.
* Detailed evidence of ongoing professional development by maintaining a portfolio.
Physical skills:
* The post holder uses a range of specialised equipment.
* Manual dexterity is required.
* Speed and precision are both required when handling radioactive sources.
Organisational skills:
* The post holder must have the ability to organise themselves and work in a timely fashion and handle unexpected changes in the work pattern.
Knowledge:
* The post holder must have a good understanding of current Radiation Protection legislation, including Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17), Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 (IR(ME)R17), and Environmental Permitting Regulations 2016 (EPR16) to allow them to work safely.
* The post-holder must maintain their knowledge of Nuclear Medicine. This will be achieved by attending relevant local and National meetings and by private study. The post-holder must keep an accurate Continuing Professional Development Portfolio as evidence of this.
