Job summary Our Multi-Disciplinary Substance Misuse Team seeks to employ a Band 3 at Eastwood Park prison, who will participate in the delivery of an educational harm reduction programme as part of our drug and alcohol recovery initiative. The post holder will have a passion for working with people that come from a variety of chaotic and disenfranchised backgrounds. Supporting offenders to understand the harm that drug and alcohol can cause, whilst helping them identify the steps that they can take towards stabilisation, drug reduction and recovery. The post holder will also support qualified staff with other tasks to ensure the smooth running of the care that we provide. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who is committed to the provision of a recovery-focused model of care, within an integrated physical and mental health service. This job may be of particular interest to you if you have previous knowledge, skill and experience of working with difficult to reach groups. The successful candidate will be required to obtain prison security clearance in addition to DBS and reference checks. Main duties of the job At Eastwood Park Prison we work as an integrated healthcare team. The consortium comprises of AWP and PPG as well other external providers. The post is focussed in supporting women who have substance misuse and / or issues with alcohol. This is a great role for entry level to working in the prison environment. Substantial training and support will be provided both internally and externally. The successful applicant will provide drug and alcohol awareness groups, working to a harm minimisation agenda. With support from senior colleagues, you will learn how to offer Mutual Aid Groups (SMART and 12 Steps), as well as psychosocial groups; educational workshops; reflection and mindfulness; along with mind-mapping activities and in-cell work. The prison houses up to 442 women. In addition to the specialist unit for substance misuse, the prison offers a Drug Recovery Community, mother and baby unit; mental health service; health care clinic; and specialist therapies unit.
