We seek an experienced and competent individual possessing excellent RC flying skills on both fixed wing and VTOL systems. As an uncrewed aircraft test pilot you will be responsible for test flying of both company prototype and customer uncrewed air systems. Within the role you would report directly to the Flight Operations Team Leader although you would be ultimately accountable to the Head of Flight Operations for safe conduct of UAS test flying in accordance with the Company Operating System (OS). Responsibilities Function as pilot in command of Company and customer uncrewed air systems in accordance with regulatory and company procedures Conduct test and development flying, in accordance with a specific test point objectives within the test plan (all flying) Conduct limited uncrewed aircraft construction including some design input. Operate workshop tools and equipment to build, modify and maintain developmental uncrewed aircraft in a safe manner and in accordance with the Company OS Become familiar with Company software and electronics products for the purposes of operations, test and development flying. Conduct autopilot integration, tuning and configuration working with software engineers. Accurate recording of all company flying activities including live UAS performance feedback during test flying, logging of data, data manipulation and reporting. End UAS user experience/perspective desirable Perform other related duties as required About You Qualifications and Skills Essential: Possesses excellent RC manual flying skills on both fixed wing and VTOL /Hybrid systems and already holds, or be capable of achieving, a BMFA ‘B’ certificate. Holds a General VLOS Certificate (GVC). A good understanding of UAS operating systems, radio control systems and autopilot control technologies together with experience in construction and maintenance of model aircraft or unmanned aircraft. A good understanding of UAS legislation as applied in the UK. Desirable: Knowledge of wider CAA regulations concerning UK crewed aviation. Ideally holds a UK SPL,NPPL or PPL(A or H) or is working towards one Personal Attributes UAS Operating Skills. Manual RC flying skills. IT Literate. Able to play an active part in a team. Good communication, written and oral. Ability to multi-task safely in aviation environment Maintain continuous improvement. Awareness of new technologies. Ability to maintain accurate records.
