Kirklees Council is advertising this role on behalf of Fusion Housing.
Fusion Housing operates a Food Bank in the North Kirklees area for households experiencing food poverty. Our Food Bank service includes a skilled team of volunteers and paid staff who offer additional advice, support, and resources to help people improve life skills and build confidence.
Through funding from the National Lottery Communities Fund, we are offering the opportunity for a passionate and motivated Basic Life Skills Coach to join our Team. Your role will involve providing one-to-one coaching, facilitating workshops, and fostering a supportive environment that encourages personal growth and independence, reducing reliance on emergency food provision.
The role includes:
* Conducting assessments to identify client strengths and goals with living skills.
* Providing one-on-one coaching sessions and group workshops on topics such as confident communication, budgeting, cooking, and time management.
* Encouraging self-advocacy and independence in everyday situations.
* Collaborating with other professionals and community resources.
* Supporting client involvement to help create an effective service.
The qualities and skills we’re looking for:
* Relevant qualifications in areas such as coaching, education, or social work.
* Experience of coaching, teaching, or other support work roles.
* Strong understanding of life skills development principles.
* Appreciation of food poverty and how this arises.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
* Ability to motivate and inspire clients.
* Strong organizational and planning abilities.
