Townsend Music, a market-leading music D2C (direct-to-consumer) company and proud member of the Artone Music family, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Finance to join our growing business.
As a key member of the Senior Management Team, you will play a pivotal role in driving the company’s financial performance, supporting business strategy, overseeing the day-to-day financial operations and integrating our financial systems into the wider group. Backed by Artone Music’s legacy in the industry, this is an exciting opportunity to lead the finance function for a business at the heart of the music industry, collaborating with top artists and bands.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership to optimise Townsend Music’s financial performance, support strategic growth, and ensure robust financial management.
2. Overhaul and upgrade the company’s financial systems and processes to match our level of turnover and support future growth, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
3. Produce and deliver detailed financial reports to key stakeholders, ensuring data integrity and sound foundations for business decisions and performance analysis.
4. Be directly involved in the day-to-day financial operations, including managing cash flow, payments, FX, and funds on deposit, while ensuring accurate forecasting for daily operations, capital expenditure, and growth strategies.
5. Working alongside our Finance Manager to ensure timely and accurate completion of management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and period-end reports, reviewed and approved with the Group CFO.
6. Oversee international tax management (primarily EU, US, AU), ensuring compliance with all statutory bodies and regulatory requirements.
7. Partner with the MD and Senior Management Team to ensure transparency in financial forecasting, contributing to business strategies and decision-making.
8. Support pricing and contract negotiations from a financial standpoint, ensuring terms benefit the business.
9. Foster a high level of credibility and maintain strong working relationships across all areas of the business, as well as with external stakeholders.
10. Play a key role in long-term business planning, contributing to shaping the financial strategy as Townsend Music continues to expand globally.
11. Oversee the preparation and submission of annual statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations, and liaising with external auditors to facilitate a smooth and timely audit process.
Qualifications:
1. ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified accountant with 10+ years post-qualification experience in a commercial environment.
2. Demonstrate experience leading finance teams and managing financial systems in fast-paced business environments.
3. Proven ability to work in a hands-on capacity within a small finance team, while also providing strategic leadership.
4. Strong commercial acumen, ideally with experience in e-commerce and a working knowledge of global tax regulations (EU, US, AU).
5. Proven ability to drive through change and implement financial systems and processes to meet growing business needs.
6. Strategic financial thinker with excellent business, analytical, and communication skills.
7. Strong leadership and people management capabilities, with an ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
8. Hands-on, adaptable, and resilient approach, capable of working in a fast-evolving and competitive environment.
