A permanent position has arisen for a band 5 Respiratory Physiologist within a busy Lung Function and Sleep Apnoea Department at University Hospital Llandough.
We are a team of 21 staff - including Clinical Scientists, Physiologists and Administrative support, and have 3 Trainee Clinical Scientists on site. We also host a variety of students from Swansea University undertaking in the BSc. Healthcare Science programme.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate should be qualified to BSc. Healthcare Science (Respiratory Physiology) level (or equivalent).
They should be able to perform and interpret full lung function tests to a high level, as well as reversibility, 6 minute walk testing, earlobe blood gases and respiratory muscle testing and have knowledge in Sleep Disordered Breathing and Treatment.
They will also be issuing, downloading and analysing sleep studies (Overnight Oximetry, Apnealink and Nox), partaking in sleep MDT, trained in Hypertonic Saline and Colomycin trials, CPET assist and partaking in long term CPAP compliance checks.
They should be confident at working independently, be able to supervise students and enjoy working within a team.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Respiratory Clinical Physiology or recognised previous equivalent with qualifications and experience accepted by RCCP.
* On RCCP Register or equivalent.
* ARTP Full Certificate in Spirometry Course (or working towards).
* Evidence of continuous professional development in lung function.
Experience
* An underpinned experience and knowledge of lung function testing.
* Competent at independently performing full lung function testing and writing technical comments.
* Competent in the set up and download of overnight oximetry and multi-channel studies.
* Able to write reports on lung function tests.
Skills
* Supervising Healthcare Science students through completing Clinical Educator Training.
* Lecturing/formal teaching.
Interests/Other Requirements
* CPD.
* Interested in learning and keeping up to date with current guidelines and articles.
* Possible Interest in research and academic papers in respiratory work.
Personal Duties
* Flexible approach to work and very enthusiastic attitude to work.
* Patient, understanding, motivated, enthusiastic, puts the patient first.
* Ability to speak Welsh.
