Due to school expansion the Executive Headteacher and Governors seek to appoint an enthusiastic, inspirational and energetic Assistant Headteacher at Summerwood Campus with Safeguarding responsibility. Summerwood Campus in Charminster is an autism-specific environment designed to meet the needs of our autistic young people who are working at or close to age-related expectations. Learners at Summerwood are 16-19. Our focus at Summerwood is on providing the right environment and support to enable students to achieve core academic qualifications as well as supporting our students to learn key social and independence skills to support them as they move into adulthood. The successful candidate will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team and will have no regular teaching commitment but will be expected to support teachers across the phase, demonstrating exemplar practice & supporting their teaching team to deliver the highest quality learning opportunities. There will be an expectation to work in collaboration with our other P16 provisions across Linwood School. The successful applicant will: Be a part of the Senior Leadership Team. Play a decisive role in the strategic, operational and policy development of the Post 16 curriculum through innovative and enterprising leadership. Provide leadership and guidance to classroom-based staff on safeguarding policy and practice. Have experience of working with pupils with an Autism diagnosis or learning difficulties. Effectively manage individual and team performance across Summerwood, acting as a role model within the school community. Adapt their leadership style to a range of scenarios across the school as a whole. Effectively promote inclusivity and safeguarding, being DDSL for Summerwood Campus. Be motivated to improve attendance at Summerwood Campus through innovation and high expectations. Periodically provide teaching cover for absent teachers. Be passionate about teaching and learning.
