Ranworth PCN has a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant/phlebotomist to join our proactive team at the Ransworth Surgery in Clacton, on a part-time basis for 22.5 hours per week. Working under the direction of the lead nurse and as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, the post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture, as requested by the clinical team, to the entitled patient population. In addition, the phlebotomist will be expected to support the nursing team on an as required basis. Other duties will include; Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample. Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols. Maintaining accurate patient records. Labelling, packaging and storing of samples correctly. Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies. Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner. Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters. Please see job description attached for further details. You will have the following skills and qualifications: Relevant qualification and experience in venepuncture. Good standard of general education. Experience of working in a healthcare setting, ideally within primary care desirable. Excellent communication skills. Strong IT skills. EMIS/SystmOne/Vision user experience. Polite and confident.
