My client in Bury St Edmunds is seeking a Senior Accountant due to expansion.

My client is an established 30-year-old general accountancy practice firm with a diverse range of clients based just outside of Bury St. Edmunds. They provide services to sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies in all aspects of business advice and accounts. They are a very happy team of 10 accountants and 2 admin staff who care passionately about their clients. While the work is serious, enjoying their work is paramount. The team is especially proud of the number of clients who first came to them as start-ups and are still with them today, some since the firm was established in 1994. What they are looking for
They are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented accountant to join their team. As an accountant, you will take responsibility for the completion of various general practice assignments, including year-end accounts, VAT returns, in addition to personal and business tax compliance work. You will ensure that the technical work is carried out in accordance with the firm's standards and procedures, while ensuring that deadlines are met and the highest standard of client care is maintained.
Responsibilities:
1. Preparation of financial statements for companies, sole traders, and partnerships, including the associated business tax compliance work.
2. Preparation of self-assessment tax returns.
3. Review and prepare VAT returns.
4. Provide financial analysis and recommendations, both internally and to clients.
5. Dealing with routine correspondence concerning clients' affairs on a timely basis.
6. Assisting with detailed and complex work on assignments when necessary.
7. Accountable for job budgets and ensuring that work is completed efficiently and that actual time is compared to budget.
8. Generally ensuring that the firm's quality assurance procedures are maintained and that client care is their utmost priority.
9. Attending relevant CPD and soft-skill training.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. ACA, ACCA qualified preferable but not necessarily essential.
2. Other relevant certification advantageous.
3. At least 5 years of recent experience in an accountancy practice.
4. Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
5. Experience with accounting software and financial reporting systems, in particular Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage; knowledge of IRIS would be advantageous.
6. Payroll experience not essential but advantageous.
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
8. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
9. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Part-time: 3 days a week
