Are you an experienced Design Engineer looking for a new role in Portsmouth. CSM2, a specialist equipment manufacturer supplying maritime atmosphere control systems and support services has an exciting opportunity to join their Mechanical Design team. Responsible for the design, draughting and final production of engineering drawings in accordance with BS 8888 using CAD software. Taking basic project ideas and producing detailed designs for equipment, framework and enclosures. All drawings to be produced to a high standard of accuracy and clarity. Key responsibilities and tasks: Responsible for concept and detailed design of engineering solutions, leading to the creation of manufacturing drawings required for product implementation Maintain liaison with design and technical authority and project engineers throughout the term of projects Ensure Company technical requirements and relevant professional standards and codes of practice are maintained and adhered to Promote the use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) techniques to the Design Office activities as applicable Ensure all departmental and Company procedures are upheld Create, review and receive new draft of Company specifications, standards and procedures from the various departments. Create, review and update and maintain parts details, sub-assemblies and bill of materials in the company MRP system Ensure only the latest copies of technical documentation is available for use throughout the Company Update documentation as instructed in accordance with the company change procedure Compnonenets selection and analysis of engineering response/solution including calculations to verify design when required. Undertake report writing and supporting documentation to meet the requirements of the department and project needs. General activities To carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the business Working to correct procedures in an efficient and timely manner Office based but working and / or visiting various sites, as required, for short periods, which may involve absence from home Maintaining a continuous level of professional development to ensure personal knowledge is up to date Capable of representing a world class brand at the highest levels Promote continuous improvement throughout the department. Essential HND/Degree or equivalent qualification with Mechanical bias Engineering Design experience Proficient user of SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software (Inventor) Knowledge of routing pipework and/or design of fabrications and welded assemblies Knowledge / exposure of Mathmatical Modelling (Traditional Design Skills) Adaptable and proactive personality Good verbal and written English skills Desirable Experience of working within a defence environment. Knowledge of ISO9000 or a similar QA system. Knowledge of a CAD vault system e.g. SolidWorks PDM Able to build long-term successful working relationships, both internally and externally. Knowledge of critical aspects (emc, shock etc.) related to the design of equipment for military applications. Competent with MS Office (Word and Excel) Experience of engineering simulation (FEA or CFD) Role Travel Requirements Some travel to other Group offices in the UK may occasionally be required. Other Requirements Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK Candidates must have passed UK security clearance to Security Check level or be able to obtain this level. To gain SC clearance you will normally have had to have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
