We have a team of Nurses and Health Care Support workers who visit patients in West Cornwall to allow them to be cared for in their preferred place of care. These individualized packages of care are carried out by our team who exclusively work with people living with an end-of-life condition.
Marie Curie is recruiting Healthcare Support Workers for our West Cornwall Day Service Team. The current shifts are either AM (8 am - 2 pm) or PM (4 pm - 10 pm). Some of our staff combine both shifts at times to work a long day. We are happy to discuss your ideas for working patterns with you prior to the interview if you are interested in applying.
Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, aligned with AFC BAND 2 £22,383 pro rata per annum, plus enhancements.
Hours/Contract: Permanent Full Time and Part Time Day shifts available.

This service will respond quickly to support patients and their carers who are eligible for end-of-life care support in their own homes. What we are looking for:
* Previous experience in a similar care role and a real interest in offering exceptional end-of-life care
* Current valid driving licence allowing you to drive in the UK and the use of a car insured for business use is essential
* Experience of working with minimal/without supervision
* Empathy and understanding of patient issues
* A level two qualification in care is desirable but not essential; however, a willingness to learn and develop specialist skills in end-of-life care is essential
Working without close supervision, you'll have the opportunity to use your own initiative in line with the patient's established care plan. You'll be required to carry out a range of duties including monitoring symptoms, assisting with medications, undertaking simple dressings and continence care, and keeping detailed records. You'll also help patients to meet their hygiene and dietary needs.
