At Storyy Group, we provide residential care, semi-independent accommodation, and alternative education for care-experienced young people, helping them transition to independent living. We work across Berkshire with creative programs, schools, and supported accommodation to offer positive pathways for young people’s futures.
Role Overview:
As a Young Person’s Mentor, your role is to provide intensive, person-centred support to young people in our Supported Accommodation (16), fostering independence and resilience. You’ll help guide them through their journey towards adulthood, supporting their personal growth, development, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide compassionate, trauma-informed support, fostering trust and positive relationships with young people.
* Promote life skills and encourage independence, ensuring a high quality of living.
* Assist young people in applying for housing and welfare benefits, and support them in developing resilience against adversity.
* Ensure that the young people are involved in service development and that their feedback is used to improve the care provided.
* Collaborate with external professionals and attend regular meetings, training, and supervision sessions for professional development.
* Adhere to safeguarding policies, raising concerns where necessary, and ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations.
* Maintain clean and safe premises and accurate support records for effective working.
Objective:
Your goal as a mentor is to empower young people to be healthy, safe, achieve their goals, contribute positively to society, and work towards economic independence. By offering guidance and support, you’ll play a critical role in helping them write their own success stories.
* Hours: On average 42 hours per week, working on a 2-week rolling rota pattern (including weekends and Bank Holidays); you will work one weekend in 2. Shift: 20:15 – 08:15, lone working.
* Work Base: Bracknell (You will be based at one home; however, flexibility is required to travel to other homes if required).
