Full TimeMPS/UPS(+ Pupil Premium Lead TLR for the right candidate)September 2025 start We are seeking an innovative teacher to join our strong, and growing, Religious Studies team. The successful candidate will have a positive and solution focused approach, applying a ‘can do’, detail orientated attitude to any potential challenges and a desire to change the lives of young people for the better. Candidates interested in the Pupil Premium Lead will demonstrate a strong moral purpose, with the skills to drive forward innovative strategies that remove any barriers for our disadvantaged young people. It is fair to say that we have been on a uniquely rapid, and highly successful, journey in recent years. The current staff team have driven through substantial change and growth in every aspect of the school, working alongside all stakeholders to achieve astounding progress. Whilst I firmly believe that there is no single word that can ever define a whole organisation, we are rightly proud of our recent external reports - particularly of our recent SIAMS report which states that “St Andrew’s is an inspirational school”. As a Church of England school, our ethos and values have faith at their heart and, as such, Religious Studies is a core subject that all students study throughout the 5 years at St Andrew’s. We welcome and celebrate people of all faiths and none, and are seeking to appoint an excellent practitioner who has the skills to help students fully engage with Big Questions and explore their place within the world. We are a community that has love at its core; for us, this is shown through honesty, transparency and being consistently true to our word. You see in the relationships between staff and students - both in the classrooms and the corridors - and in the excellent pastoral care that every student is given. I have heard many describe being part of our school community as being like ‘family’; both giving and receiving unrelenting love. Our core Christian values run through all that we do, both in daily life and in strategic development. We have the highest expectations and aspirations for all members of our community, and accept nothing less than an individual’s best. We recognise that we are all unique, with unique training and developmental needs – and we aim to give every staff member the best CPD to enable them to reach their career goals, no matter what that goal may be. I would strongly recommend visiting the school; I would be delighted to show you around the school, and enable a chance to meet the team. The School and West Sussex County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks, including satisfactory references.
