Job: High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapist for Maternal Emotional Wellbeing Team.
Salary: Band 7
The post holder will be part of Talking Therapies (IAPT) service and will provide high intensity interventions - initially cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). The post holder will work with clients who have a range of complex Anxiety and Depression related problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.
This role will be within a Maternal service working with those in the perinatal period.
The post holder will work with people from different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.
This post is for 25 hours per week, with service working hours from 8am to 8pm.
Suitable for applications from trainees due to complete courses in the near future.
Main duties of the job
Sandwell Talking Therapies Service within the Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service to the local population of Walsall.
The service offers a number of evidence-based psychological interventions both at step 2 and step 3 as proposed by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance.
The service endeavours to offer the local population a full range of evidence-based psychological interventions, within a stepped care approach, to a high standard and quality.

Job responsibilities
The post holders will work alongside other High Intensity Psychological Therapists (HIPIs), and will be required to assist in providing step 3 interventions and contributing to the development of the step 3 service being offered.
The step 3 service primarily offers one-to-one evidenced-based psychological treatments, which ordinarily had been face-to-face; however since COVID restrictions these have been completed entirely through telephone/video consultation and the service intends to maintain this as an offer for our clients moving forward.
The service endeavours to introduce group interventions at step 3 and post holders will be key in developing and shaping the content and delivery of step 3 disorder specific groups to sit alongside the aforementioned interventions.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Postgraduate Diploma in High Intensity Psychological Interventions - CBT
* Eligible for BABCP accreditation (i.e. training was through a BABCP level two accredited course)
* Completed Training in Long Term Conditions
* Full or provisional accreditation with the BABCP
Experience
* Worked in a Primary Care Mental Health Service as a CBT Therapist
* Ability to meet service targets
* Ability to manage your own caseload and time
* Experience with routine outcome monitoring
* Experience of teaching or liaising with other Health Professionals
* Working with long term physical health conditions
Knowledge
* Demonstrates an understanding of the stepped care model and the need to use Evidence Based Treatment
* Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence-based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
* Knowledge in relation to Safeguarding - Adults and Children
* Knowledge of medication used in Anxiety and Depression
Skills
* Full range of skills and competencies in line with the Roth and Pilling Framework
* Able to supervise other staff
* Completed training in risk management
* Able to develop therapeutic relationships with clients
* To communicate effectively with others - written and verbal
