The Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme (AIMP) is delivering world-leading infrastructure and buildings across remote UK Antarctic Stations to support Polar science. This role provides a fantastic opportunity to work closely with the AIMP projects team in using GIS to support infrastructure planning, working with BIM models and digital data delivery. You will develop a GIS based solution for visualising, interrogating and validating data within BIM models during construction phases and act as the go to expert in the use of GIS and BIM in tandem. The role will sit within the Mapping and Geographic Information Centre (MAGIC). We are BAS's geospatial team with expertise in GIS, cartography, geomatics, software development and earth observation. The role will work closely with the GIS Estate Engineer, who is working to deliver GIS tools for Estate Management, to integrate GIS and the BAS asset register held in MAXIMO, and digitise the existing Estate across all Antarctic Stations and Cambridge. We are looking for someone enthusiastic and conscientious, who is experienced in the application of GIS technologies to the planning and management of the built environment and ideally someone who has worked with BIM and GIS together. Although we will also consider someone without the specific experience, but with a strong background of GIS generally. We need someone who is innovative and will thrive working across multidisciplinary teams to deliver solutions that are fit for purpose.
