This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team at the heart of Sandwell Council, in a role that supports the Leader of the Council and the Cabinet to bring about positive change for our citizens and represent Sandwell across the region and nationally.
Working closely with the Head of Service, you are expected to contribute towards the effective functioning of the Leader and Cabinet Office. The main duties include carrying out research, analysis and projects that inform policy development, preparing regular briefings on a wide range of council activities, and keeping the Leader and Cabinet informed of the latest developments in local government using reliable sources, such as the Local Government Association.
The role requires a high-level analytical, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and presentation skills. Experience of local government and the local and regional political environment, gained from a professional role or through relevant study, is essential, as is a commitment to modelling the values and behaviours of the Council.
You will be based in Oldbury Council House. Whilst agile and flexible working is supported, the nature of the role means that you will be expected to maintain a high degree of visible presence and attend the office at least two days a week. There will be the requirement to work occasional evenings and weekends.
You will need to be educated to Level 5 or equivalent in a relevant subject.
