Empower Youth Zones is the charity that oversees the creation, management and sustainability of both HideOut in Gorton, Manchester, and Salford Youth Zone (SYZ) in Pendleton, Salford. This is an incredibly exciting time for the network as SYZ gets ready to open its doors to the public in the summer of 2025!
Open 7 days a week, the Youth Zones offer a free hot meal and over 20 activities every night for just 50p per visit for young people aged 8-19 and up to 25 with an additional needs. Their incredible facilities include a 3G pitch, climbing wall, gym, sports hall and recreation area, and dance, arts, music, and media suites.
Job Title: Catering Manager
Reports to: Director of Operations

Location: HideOut Youth Zone (Gorton, M12)
In this exciting role, you will be responsible for catering to all members of HideOut Youth Zone. You will take the lead on running all aspects of an inspiring, healthy and cost-effective catering provision including line managing Catering Assistants. The café is an essential part of their offer for young people (aged 8-19 years, up to 25 for those with additional needs) and the canteen area must be a warm and welcoming place for all.
The role encompasses creating, preparing and cooking inspiring, innovative and appealing dishes that are low cost, and the post holder must be passionate about local produce, minimising food waste, have a “can do” attitude and relate well to young people.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Previously been responsible for managing a sustainable service; taking responsibility for pricing, the provision of a popular menu, working to a strict budget and minimise waste
* Experience in cash handling, stock control and ordering
* Experience of working with/mentoring a team of volunteers
* Hold a Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate
* Managed a wide-ranging repertoire of meals for young people
