Role Overview: PK Education is currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a wonderful primary school located near Farnley, Leeds. This exciting opportunity involves working primarily across Year 1 and Year 2, with some support in EYFS. The role focuses on supporting all pupils with intervention work, group activities, and class learning, while also helping to manage behaviour and promote student engagement.
You will be providing 1:1 support to pupils with complex needs, including SEND, high-needs Autism, and non-verbal support. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that students with additional needs are given the opportunity to thrive in their learning environment. This is a long-term position, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right person.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide classroom support across Year 1 and Year 2, with occasional support in EYFS.
2. Support pupils in group activities, intervention work, and general class learning.
3. Assist with 1:1 support for pupils with complex needs, including SEND, high-needs Autism, and non-verbal communication.
4. Help manage behaviour across the class, ensuring that all students remain engaged and focused.
5. Encourage a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all pupils.
6. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to develop and implement effective strategies.
Key Requirements:
1. Experience working with children, especially those with SEND and Autism, is highly desirable.
2. Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with children who have complex needs.
3. Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies.
4. Ability to work as part of a team and also independently when needed.
5. A proactive approach to supporting students and their learning needs.
6. A positive, can-do attitude and a passion for helping children succeed.
Hours & Duration:
Start date: After February half-term. Long-term role with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
