Whittington Moor Surgery, a busy yet welcoming practice, isseeking a permanent Practice Nurse to join our team, working 25-30 hours per week. Thisposition has opened due to upcoming maternity leave and planned expansion ofour Nursing Team. Our staff wellbeing is of the upmost importance, and weencourage part time working.
We have maintained our "Outstanding" CQC ratingsince 2015. Our practice serves 8,500 patients and is located near thebeautiful Peak District. We received excellent patient satisfaction surveyresults in July 2024, and our staff satisfaction remains high.
We offer a competitive salary of between £38, to £41, FTE dependant on experience and also offer additional benefits such as the Cycle to Work Scheme, NHS pension and holiday entitlement pro rata of 26-31 days.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a Registered Nurse with experience in General Practice who can thrive in a fast-paced and occasionally changing environment.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the Nursing Team, including HCA's and Phlebotomists, to ensure a high standard of care for our patients. You will also provide Nursing Assistance to Doctors and other members of the Primary Healthcare Team. Your duties will encompass all tasks typically performed by a Practice Nurse.

Todeliver effective, high standard nursing care to the practice population

MAIN DUTIES
Instigate and perform investigations.
Near Patient Testing (INR's) using INR Star (including Home Visits)
Venepuncture
Testing urine samples, interpret results and take relevant action
Perform blood pressure monitoring
Ear syringing
Dressings for minor injuries and wound care after minor surgery
Routine Vaccinations including childhood Immunisations and monitoring
Travel Health
Women's Health
Discuss and give information to women about pre- conceptual advice, sexual health, menopause
Perform cervical smears and discuss the meaning of the result
Discuss all methods of contraception, offer latest information to women to allow them to choose appropriate method and monitor women on contraception
Health promotion interventions and lifestyle advice
Smoking cessation advice
Offer support, assess motivation, give information about nicotine replacement therapy, review regularly
Weight reduction discuss healthy eating and exercise- refer on to other agencies
Advice on safe alcohol levels as per guidelines
Discuss the need for referral to other agencies if necessary
Identify patients at more risk of cardiovascular events
Give appropriate lifestyle advice
Instigate other investigations, blood tests and electrocardiogram

Qualifications
Essential
1. Adult Nursing Qualification - Holds current NMC registration
2. NMC adult nursing registration
3. 3 years clinical experience
4. Car driver
5. Some Primary Care Nursing experience
6. Understanding the role of a Practice Nurse
7. Experience in implementing protocols and clinical guidelines
8. Good time management skills, punctual, able to manage and prioritise workload
9. Clinical skills - cervical cytology, immunisation and vaccination
10. Women's health
11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
12. Knowledge of PGD and PSDs and their associated policy
