Rebecca Udall is a digitally-native luxury homeware brand specialising in fine linens and artisan homeware, shipping internationally with a loyal customer base. The majority of our range is designed and produced by us, manufactured in countries including Italy, France, Portugal and India.
Being an independent and fast-growing business, the successful candidate will be someone who takes a hands-on approach to manage and lead their team as well as enjoying a dynamic, entrepreneurial and creative environment with the ability to make decisions and implement them quickly. The role will be office based at our Head Office in Malton. This is advertised as a full time role and is our preference, however for the right candidate we can consider a part-time role 28+ hours a week.
Role Summary
The Buyer will be responsible for curating and managing the product assortment, P&L ownership, full product lifecycle management, supplier management and critical path management. Reporting in to the Founder (Creative Director / MD), the role will have strong progression opportunities and autonomy. You will lead the Buying & Design team consisting of a Designer, Buying Assistant & Junior Buyer, and collaborate closely with design, marketing, customer service/sales and operation teams, being a key point of contact for the business. You will oversee the end-to-end buying process, from sourcing and supplier negotiation to stock management and forecasting, ensuring the brand’s high standards are met as well as optimising sales and inventory investment.
You will have full accountability for driving digital sales through commercial strategic planning. You will be responsible for the development and execution of campaign, brand and promotional strategies, leading the digital marketing and brand content team to drive initiatives and actions to improve conversion rates and other sales and customer KPIs. You will also lead the continual improvement of the onsite experience for customers, liaising with an agency to implement, to meet exceptional standards.
* Lead the product development of new products and selection of our curated collection, ensuring they reflect the brand’s identity, align to P&L targets and appeal to the target market
* Source high-quality suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring they align with brand values and standards
* Oversee the critical path and product lifecycle
* Maintain and build strong relationships with suppliers
* Develop and implement effective product assortments to drive sales and customer engagement
* Product financial planning by quarter and annually
* Collaborate with the design and marketing teams to create compelling product narratives and ensure we are speaking about the right products at the right time
* Analyse sales performance and customer feedback to refine product offerings and strategies
* Oversee product forecasts, ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained
* Monitor sales and stock turnover to ensure a balanced and profitable inventory
* Plan seasonal buys and promotional strategies
* Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers to maximise P&L and ensure timely delivery
* Manage supplier relationships, addressing any issues related to product quality, delivery, or service
* Stay informed about global market conditions
* Manage and mentor junior colleagues
* Work closely with other departments (design, marketing, operations, sales) to maximise operational efficiency, high customer service and a seamless product offering
* Present product strategies and performance reports to the Founder
Key Skills & Requirements:
Experience:
* A minimum of 5 years’ experience in buying within the homeware, fashion, or lifestyle sector
* Proven track record in product sourcing, selection and supplier negotiation
Knowledge:
* Deep understanding of luxury homeware/textiles, consumer requirements and the competitive landscape
* Strong knowledge of retail pricing, stock management, and product lifecycle
* Familiarity with retail and e-commerce buying platforms and data analysis tools such as Inventory Planner, Shopify, Sweet Analytics & BrightPearl
Skills:
* Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
* Strong analytical skills, with a data-driven approach to decision making.
* Creative mindset with an eye for high-end design and aesthetics
* Strong commercial acumen and an ability to think strategically
Education:
* A degree in Business, Fashion Buying, Retail Management, or a related field is preferred but not essential

* Hands-on, comfortable with the 'doing' and adaptable. Being a fast growing, entrepreneurial brand you are happy to try and test things, learn and improve consistently
* Financially savvy - a whizz with numbers and reports, great attention to detail. Fantastic Excel/Google sheets skills and ability to create reports
* A positive outset with excellent problem solving abilities and tenacity
The salary is a starting guide and as a new role, this is open to discussion based on experience.
