Product Design Engineer (consumer/industrial, electrical/electronic products)
Role is based on site in Chard, Somerset - some hybrid working may be possible as/when workload allows
Salary £34K - £46K (DOE) plus generous benefits including an employee well-being program and a lunchtime finish on a Friday!
We're looking for a Product Design Engineer who has designed Electrical/Electronic consumer or industrial products, to join a leading OEM whose main product is a very familiar household name! This role is based at their site which is located on the glorious Somerset, Devon, and Dorset borders – the sea being just a short car journey away!

Joining the R&D team as Product Design Engineer, what would you do?
* Provide design and engineering input into aspects of design work that falls within your area of expertise.
* Create detailed designs for the creation of new and existing products.
* Take a full part in the development and improvement of the R&D department.
* Ensure that attention to detail, rectification of design error, and cost control are considerations that you have at the forefront of your mind when engaged on design work.
* Be involved in and support Business Improvement Projects.
What skills and experience will the Product Design Engineer need?
* Must have a minimum of 2 years demonstrable work experience in a similar role with Electrical/Electronic products.
* Full design product development work from concept to manufacture, which includes use of CAD modelling software and demonstrable experience of component or system modification.
* Plastic injection moulding and/or sheet metalwork, fabricated assemblies, rotational moulding.
* Competent at producing Engineering drawings and schemes.
* Good understanding of a range of manufacturing processes and construction methods.
* Good appreciation of loads and forces acting within components and complex assemblies. Stress Analysis and CAE experience is desirable.
* Good hand modelmaking skills to demonstrate proof of principle models.
