Trust Doctor – ST4+ or equivalent in Paediatrics

We are looking for a Trust Doctor (ST4+ equivalent) to join our Paediatrics team at Worthing Hospital until September 2025.
This is a full-time/ part-time role including participation in a full shift rota system.
The successful candidate will work alongside other team members to provide a full shift rota at middle grade level which will involve acute paediatrics and neonates.
Candidates must have completed foundation training (or equivalent) and have at least 2 further years of Paediatric experience ideally including 6 months in a tertiary neonatal unit. Full MRCPCH should be held or be close to being held.
Candidates must have full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC.
Candidates will be expected to work together as a team within the Women and Children's Group.
Main duties of the job
1. Managing children admitted to the Paediatric ward under supervision of a Consultant.
2. Seeing patients referred to the Paediatric Assessment unit and providing support and advice to A&E doctors, General Practitioners.
3. Attending resuscitation calls in A&E.
4. Supervising and supporting Tier 1 doctors in patient care in children's ward and assessment unit.
5. Managing babies on the Neonatal unit under supervision of consultant.
6. Supervision and supporting Tier 1 doctors in patient care for babies on the neonatal unit and maternity unit.
7. Attending high risk deliveries on the maternity unit.
8. Support and teaching of junior medical, nursing staff and medical students.
9. Engaging in Continuing Professional Development and Audit as appropriate.
10. Engaging with the Trusts appraisal and revalidation process.
11. Deputising for absent colleagues as necessary.
12. Performing additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
13. Being available for irregular commitments outside normal rostered duties as essential for continuity of patient care.

Person Specification
Experience & Qualification
* Completion or close to completion of MRCPCH or appropriate specialist qualification.
* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice.
* Advanced Life Support Certificates from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent including EPALS/APLS and NLS.
* Higher Degree relating to paediatrics, education, leadership etc.
Clinical Skills & Experience
* Foundation programme (or equivalent) plus a minimum of 2 years experience in paediatrics.
* Neonatal airway skills including tracheal intubation.
* Umbilical Line Insertion.
* 6 months working in a tertiary NICU.
* Cranial Ultrasound.
Knowledge
* Breadth of experience in and outside specialty.
Organisation & Planning
* Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams.
* Understanding of NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints.
* Evidence of managerial skills: Achievements / Course attended.
Teaching Skills
* Evidence of an interest and commitment to teaching.
* Recognised teaching qualification.
Academic & Research
* Evidence of participation in audit.
* Research experience.
* Publications.
Career progression & Personal attributes
* Appropriate progression of career to date.

Salary: £41,750 to £64,288 a year, per annum, pro rata.
