Ferniehill Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a 6 session GP Partner to join our patient-focused and friendly team from September 2025.
We are fortunate to have an excellent, fully staffed team of clinicians at the practice, who are passionate about providing excellent primary care services to our patients, but who also value the benefits of a healthy work/life balance. Coffee breaks are always taken together, giving everyone the opportunity to review and discuss their day. We promote a supportive environment for all of our GPs – not just those who are newly qualified. Our appointment system is currently a mix of on the day and advance bookable appointments, and the majority of the appointments are 15 minutes in length.
Our team consists of 8 GPs (4 Partners/4 Salaried GPs), a GP registrar (Currently GPST3), a nurse practitioner who works alongside the GPs, 3 practice nurses who provide an excellent chronic disease service, 2 mental health nurses, community pharmacists (plus pharmacy technician support), a physiotherapist, a practice manager, a phlebotomist and a ten strong admin team. Health visitors and district nurses are attached to the practice but work off-site.
We are a training practice and currently have a GP registrar working with us. Additionally, we support fourth year medical students at the practice. All of our doctors are actively involved in the delivery of teaching, and we would hope that our successful candidate would also support our efforts to help future doctors in their training.
Responsibilities such as duty doctor are shared amongst the GPs on a pro rata basis, and duty doctor day finds the duty doctor supported in the afternoon by another GP, so the day does not become overwhelming.
The role attracts 7 weeks leave and 8 public holidays (pro rata).
We are (currently) an EMIS practice and use Docman and Bluebay as support tools.
No parking restrictions.
Golden Hello currently available.
Working days – full days Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Please contact Debbie Nicholson, Practice Manager, for an informal chat or a visit to the practice at Debbie.nicholson@nhs.scot.
Applications, along with a covering letter should also be sent to Debbie.
