The Role
We are currently looking for a passionate and experienced Assistant General Manager to join our leadership team at the Grand Café. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a unique venue where history and hospitality go hand in hand.
Working closely with the General Manager, you'll play a vital role in delivering an exceptional guest experience, shaping a high-performing team, and driving the continued success of one of Edinburghs most iconic hospitality spaces.
Key Responsibilities
Support the General Manager in the smooth running of day-to-day operations, from morning coffee service to late-night dining.
Lead by example on the floor, fostering a culture of excellence and genuine hospitality.
Drive guest satisfaction through attentive service, rapid resolution of feedback, and a deep understanding of our offering.
Recruit, train, and mentor team members, developing talent and maintaining a high-performance culture.
Oversee stock control, supplier management, and ordering processes to ensure optimal operational flow.
Maintain rigorous standards in health & safety, food hygiene, and licencing compliance.
Assist in managing venue financials, including cash handling, reporting, and banking.
Contribute to marketing initiatives and seasonal campaigns that enhance visibility and footfall.
Act as the General Manager in their absence, ensuring consistency in leadership and operations.
What Were Looking For
Proven experience in a senior hospitality role ideally in a fast-paced, high-profile venue.
Confident, calm, and inspiring leadership style with a hands-on approach.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
A guest-first mindset, with a natural flair for creating memorable experiences.
Strong understanding of food and beverage operations; hotel experience is a plus.
Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
A proactive, commercially aware mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
