Sexual Exploitation Outreach Support Worker Hours: 35 per week Contract: Fixed term until 01/01/2027. (may be subject to on-going funding) Funded by The National Lottery Community Fund Salary: £23,500 per annum (rising to £24,000 per annum after successfully completing a 6-month probationary period) Type: Agile and sucessful applicant will have autonomy over working days and start/end times Successful applicant will be required to work regular evenings and weekends to support the needs of the service. All team members must work flexibly on occasions to meet the needs of those we support. Compulsory participation in the 2nd Tier out of hours on-call rota (Paid) Purpose of the Post: To provide a proactive service to any woman who is at risk of, or who is being exploited through the sex industry and assist those using the service to make informed decisions and positive changes to their lives. To focus on the frontline and outreach work with those exploited through sex work and sexual violence and provide a range of practical and emotional support to those who are at risk of/ is being sexually and/ or financially exploited. Multi agency partnership working providing specialist support and crisis interventions to those already engaged in the sex industry across all platforms, particularly street sex industry. Responsibilities To deliver a high quality, trauma informed, person led exploitation outreach support service across Gwent. To understand the issues surrounding sexual exploitation and community-based sex work. Whilst working on an outreach basis, reach out and engage with women who are impacted by sex work and victims of sexual exploitation, building and sustaining ongoing, trusting relationships to facilitate access to a wide range of services whilst providing a referral and support gateway to access those services. Assist and support victims of sexual exploitation, human trafficking, Violence Against Women Domestic and Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) Support and advocate for women being exploited to have a voice and provide feedback within the organisation and the sector, including surveys, listening sessions and external opportunities. Facilitate improvements in health and well being and reduce the risks associated with sex work. Provide a range of harm reduction advice, information, health, crisis intervention and other initiatives/ services. To identify cases of sexual exploitation and other forms of exploitation and provide appropriate support and advocacy. Contribute to challenging the stigma that surrounds those being exploited through the sex industry and ensure that they, who are often a hidden population and who do not necessarily access mainstream services, are not misrepresented. Undertake risk assessments with/ on individuals, locations and activities and review accordingly. Develop support plans in line with the needs of those we support, and review accordingly enabling those being exploited to achieve meaningful and impactful outcomes, led by them. Act as an advocate on behalf of those we support, encouraging and supporting self-advocacy as appropriate. Support to secure emergency/ temporary accommodation for those without accommodation and liaising with the local authority and housing providers to ensure adequate, safe housing is provided. Contribute input with team members in Arcadia (supported accommodation) to ensure accommodation referral paths and intakes are accurate, clear, and concise. Contribute to regular visits to local parlours/ brothels to offer support and build positive working relationships with those using these premises to earn money. Carry a case load of clients who the service supports via the outreach provision and provide cover when necessary. Participate in ‘Op Pathway’ ensuring that any actions are completed in a timely manner. Work in partnership and with a multi-agency approach, with the Local Authority, Police, Drug Alcohol Services, Mental Health Services, Health, Sexual Health, Probation, etc. aiming to safeguard individuals and manage the risks associated with supporting vulnerable, marginalised people involved in the sex industry. Participate in regular information sharing meetings and provide accurate information To demonstrate and promote the organisation’s values, culture, and qualities. To foster a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and innovation that ensures our support and services are safe. Ensure accurate and timely records are maintained in relation to all aspects of the service, including inputting information into our Information Management System. Support the Team Leader/ Manager in providing data for reports for Welsh Women’s Aid (WWA) Statistics, Housing Support Grant (HSG) and other relevant reports for projects, services, and funders. Being responsive to requests from other members of the organisation for quantitative and qualitative data, including for example, the creation of case studies. Maintaining the outreach vehicle and ensuring the vehicle is fully stocked, along with ensuring all outreach items are ordered in a timely manner and fully stocked. General Responsibilities To represent the organisation at external meetings, public events, conferences, and similar ensuring that the organisation’s reputation is protected and enhanced. To actively work in partnership with other agencies and organisations to achieve better outcomes for women affected by VAWDASV. Participate in team meetings, supervision, and appropriate training. To work within the organisation’s policies and procedures at all times. Any other reasonable duties as required. A current valid driving licence, access to a car and insurance covering business use is essential.
