MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provision of health advice to patients. Undertake immunisations, injections and vaccinations. Provision of health checks for both newly registered patients and the NHS healthchecks. Carry out screenings, e.g. lipids, blood pressure, cervical smears, etc. Provision of support and assistance with clinics, e.g. diabetic, hypertension, asthma, menopause, warfarin, minor surgery, contraception etc. Undertake ECG and other routine monitoring procedures. Provision of travel advice. Provision of minor illness diagnosis and treatment (after appropriate training). Venepuncture and the taking and preparing of pathology samples. Provision of general nursing duties, e.g. dressings, ear syringing, etc. The maintenance of health promotion literature and information for patients. Assist doctors with minor surgery procedures, when required The inputting of information onto the Practice clinical system. Use of Practice clinical system for patient searches for clinics and patient recall. Manage long-term conditions including Asthma, Diabetes, COPD Ensure that infection control procedures are followed. The ongoing cleaning and sterilisation of clinical equipment and working surfaces. The maintenance of treatment room equipment, including testing and recording. This job description is not exhaustive and may be adjusted periodically after review and consultation.
