Derbyshire Pathology has some exciting opportunities for flexible and motivated individuals to join our Phlebotomy Service within the Community Diagnostic Centres in a new role of Phlebotomy Supervisor/Specialist Medical Laboratory Assistant.
These posts will be primarily based at Florence Nightingale Community Hospital and also at Ilkeston Hospital. The opening times of these sites will be Monday to Sunday from 7 am until 7 pm. The positions that we have available are: full-time posts, these will be working 12 hour shifts on a rolling rota pattern working every other weekend.
The successful candidate will take an active part in the Phlebotomy Service ensuring that we have the correct amount of staff allocated to the various locations whilst also undertaking the processing of clinical specimens before testing.
We are looking for individuals who have previous Phlebotomy experience to work alongside our existing Supervisors and who also have demonstrable supervisory skills to include undertaking appraisals, rota management, training and recruitment of staff.
This role involves working at both our main sites Royal Derby/Florence Nightingale. You will take an active part in the Phlebotomy service with particular responsibility for the supervision of staff and assisting in the allocation of phlebotomy staff to wards, GPs, Community Hospitals and clinics ensuring an efficient and effective use of staff.
To undertake the processing of clinical specimens before testing.
To perform technical scientific investigations covering several disciplines, involving the processing of blood and other body fluids. You will receive support and advice from Point of Care Associate Practitioners and Biomedical Scientists in delivering this service.
To run Point of Care clinics involving direct patient care.
To run staff training sessions throughout the geographical area covered by Derbyshire Pathology, as required.
To assist in the administration of the Point of Care Technologies team, using a range of computer databases.
To assist in the management of POCT resources.
