Marks Sattin have a very exciting opportunity working with a PE backed business near Huddersfield very established throughout the UK with big plans to establish themselves globally for the role of Head of Credit.
The Head of Credit Control will lead the credit control function, ensuring timely collection of outstanding payments, minimising credit risk, and improving cash flow.
This role requires strong leadership skills to manage the credit control team of up to 40 and drive continuous improvement in credit management processes. Candidates must also have international experience to be considered for this role.
For this role, they will pay up to £70k, plus bonus and can offer great progression opportunities as they grow. This role will be required to be 4 days on site.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Management & Collections
1. Develop and implement effective credit control policies and procedures.
2. Ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices while maintaining strong customer relationships.
3. Monitor aged debt and take proactive steps to reduce overdue balances.
4. Assess customer creditworthiness and set appropriate credit limits.
5. Oversee the management of key accounts to ensure smooth payment processes.
Team Leadership & Development
1. Lead, motivate, and develop the credit control team to achieve performance targets.
2. Provide training and coaching to enhance team effectiveness.
3. Foster a high-performance culture focused on results and customer service.
Process Improvement & Reporting
1. Implement automation and system enhancements to improve efficiency.
2. Develop and maintain KPIs to measure and report on debt recovery performance.
3. Provide regular reports to senior management on outstanding debts, risks, and cash flow forecasts.
4. Work closely with the finance and sales teams to improve credit control processes.
Risk & Compliance
1. Ensure compliance with company credit policies, legal regulations, and industry standards.
2. Identify potential credit risks and take proactive measures to mitigate them.
3. Manage relationships with external debt collection agencies and legal teams when necessary.
Experience & Qualifications
1. Proven experience in a senior credit control or credit management role.
2. Strong leadership and team management skills.
3. Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
4. In-depth knowledge of credit risk assessment and debt recovery processes.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. International credit risking and policy experience.
7. Experience in underwriting risk.
8. CICM (Chartered Institute of Credit Management) qualification or equivalent.
Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field desirable.
