Job Introduction
We are looking for a talented studio-based Senior Technical Operator to join the team in Bristol.
We have a multi-media broadcast centre operated by a team of multi-skilled programme-makers and journalists working across the output, seven days a week. We cover Bristol, Wiltshire, Somerset and Gloucestershire on television, online and on radio. It is home to the flagship early evening TV programme 'Points West' and also bulletins, from early morning to late evening across the entire week. Add to the mix, online, digital content and a weekly politics programme and you'll start to understand breadth of our services and the level of skill we require.
Main Responsibilities
All of these high-quality productions require a Senior Technical Operator bursting with ideas, creativity, inspiration, enthusiasm, experience and professionalism. As a senior technical operator you will be working across a number of gallery studio-based roles. These could include technical manager, sound mixer, bulletin director, graphic designer or editor.
Are you the right candidate?
The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
* Extensive live broadcast experience.
* At least two, preferably 3, studio based core skills.
* Strong people skills with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships.
* Highly motivated with an understanding of the demands of regional news.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Good attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure.
* You'll be keen to muck in with all aspects of the job and get your hands dirty, and you should be able to review a program and give feedback where things went well or not so well.
* You should have a flexible approach to work, as the demands of this role often involve working some unsocial hours including early/late shifts and weekends.
