About the role We are currently seeking a Mechanic in joining our Workshop team on a permanent full-time basis. With robust on the job training and mentoring, you proactively build upon your existing industry experience with this unique opportunity. You will be working as a valued team member responsible for the effective maintenance and repairs of Council’s diverse vehicle and plant fleet. Our Workshop team carries out maintenance and servicing, scheduled and un-scheduled repairs, fabrication and registration inspections on a wide variety of heavy and light vehicles, trailers, major plant equipment and small plant items. We have 1x vacancy based in our afternoon shift crew. Please see hours of work below. This position operates on a 76-hour fortnight with a Rostered Day Off every second Friday. Afternoon Shift – 2:00pm to 11:00pm (Monday - Thursday) 9.00am to 5.30pm (Friday alt to RDO) Essential criteria TAFE Certificate of Trade in the Automotive Mechanics field Sound knowledge and experience as a Mechanic in the Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Current Motor Mechanic Tradesperson Certificate as issued from NSW Fair Trading. Understanding of, and experience with, preventative maintenance programs, investigations, costing and reporting faults/repairs. Knowledge of and commitment to Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Equal Employment Opportunities. Current Class C Driver Licence Desirable criteria Current Class MR Driver Licence Current Motor Mechanic Tradesperson Certificate as issued from NSW Fair Trading Forklift High Risk Licence RMS Light Vehicle Examiners Certificate RMS Heavy Vehicle Examiners Certificate Experience in heavy plant maintenance and repairs Commencing Salary: The salary for this position ranges from $76,329.00 - $88,355.00 per annum, plus 11.5% superannuation and an Adverse Working Conditions Allowance in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award. Mechanics on the Afternoon Shift receive an additional shift penalty commencing after 6:00pm. All mechanics receive additional tool allowance in accordance with Local Government (State) Award.
