Applications are for a Data Manager within the Cardiothoracic Directorate, based at the University Hospital of Wales. These posts provide an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within Cardiothoracics and would be ideal for anyone with an analytical and reporting interest. This is also a role that will help improve/develop management skills as the post holder will be responsible for directly line-managing staff.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that clinical data sources, collection entry & transfer of information is at the highest of standards for the directorate.
They will create, maintain and validate data held within the Directorate that will be used and presented in professional formats to stakeholders and other governing bodies.
They will be part of a team of Data Officers that they will then manage themselves as the senior lead and direct line of contact for this group of staff.
They will be responsible for ensuring governance around data management is adhered to and that data collection is secure and reliable, ensuring that all reports are sent and dealt with in a timely manner.

Qualifications & Knowledge
* Educated to Degree Level or Equivalent Experience
* Higher Degree Qualifications in a relevant subject, preferably in Medical or Biological Science
Experience
* Experience with Data Collection/Management
* Previous Reporting, Archiving & Development Skills
* Previous Experience within a Clinical Environment
* Experience of preparing REC submissions
* Experience with working within Multi-disciplinary teams
* Proven Problem Solving Skills
* Previous Management of a Team
* Experience with developing SOPs
* Experience with preparing high level/national reports
* Experience with working on complex Clinical Data management
* Experience of regulatory inspections
Skills & Attributes
* Extensive knowledge of GDPR/Information Governance
* Knowledge of statistical concepts and appropriate software
* Proficient in using PC based Windows & Microsoft Office
* Knowledge of Database Set-Up and Data Management
* Knowledge of Clinical Trial Methodology & Statistical Analysis
* Knowledge of developing databases for collection of complex clinical data
