WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The role of a Senior Vibration Test Engineer is to program, operate and maintain the Test Rig and its supporting infrastructure.
The Senior Vibration Test Engineer(s) will report into the Vibration Test Manager who is responsible for the Test Facility and delivering test capability to support the CR3 Trials programme.
The role is based from our Telford site, and will require daily attendance on site. The successful candidate may also be required to travel in the UK and abroad, from time to time.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Support the Vibration Test Manager and the rest of the team to ensure the vibration test facility remains safe and fit for purpose.
Enable & perform the day-to-day running/operation of the vibration test facility.
Enable & perform basic maintenance tasks (such as filter changes, oil samples, infrastructural and test specimen inspections, etc.)
Support the generation of (& interpret) operational control documentation for the facility (procedures, risk assessments, etc.) & highlight improvement areas.
Support the generation of (& interpret) test documentation (test plans, scripts etc.) & highlight improvement areas.
Support the processing and analysis of data to feed into the rig and/or that has been generated by the rig.
Support future business winning for vibration test work.
Be part of (and collaborate with) a team of Trials Engineers in order to deliver test results and analysis in line with project and timeline requirements.
Provide knowledge and expertise on vibration testing and data analysis.
Adhere to all safety procedures within the Test Facility in accordance with the RBSL Health & Safety Policy and procedures. Call out and stop any unsafe activity that may be witnessed.
Ensure that information and assets are handled in accordance with their security classifications.
Ensure that local (rig) data is stored, organised, used and maintained in accordance with the departmental procedures.
Work closely with the Vibration Test Manager to suggest continuous improvements to the process and facility.
Log and report any issues or anomalies within the rig control system for investigation by the Vibration Test ManagerWHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
You must hold a degree in a relevant engineering discipline and/or have equivalent experience, preferably in Mechanical Engineering with knowledge of mechanical mass‑spring‑damper dynamic systems.
You must be experienced in Vibration analysis, and be familiar with the meaning, interpretation and manipulation of Power Spectral Density curves and frequency analysis. Knowledge of Time Domain and Frequency Domain signal generation and analysis would also be highly valuable.
You must have experience in writing technical reports, for example test plans or reports.
You must have experience in working within a team.
You must be a proficient user of MS Office.
You must be keen and willing to learn new skills especially as projects change/evolve.
You should have experience in the running of vibration testing using vibration test rigs.
You should have experience in standard UK workplace health and safety requirements (IOSH, etc.).
You should have good general problem-solving skills.
You should have experience in verification and validation activities within the Military Land Equipment domain.
It is desirable that you have an understanding of armoured vehicle design, their sub systems and operation.
It is desirable that you have experience on the Challenger 2 platform or other similar systems.WHAT WE OFFER YOU
