About the Role
Following the successful completion of its Series A fundraise, we are looking for an enthusiastic Accountant to support and enhance the financial function of our expanding business. The aim of the role is to accurately and successfully support the administrative and bookkeeping tasks of the business and to assist the Financial Controller in developing the financial reporting and management accounting processes.
This is envisaged as a part-time role (20-25 hours per week).
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this new role offers a great opportunity for an organised and driven individual to get involved at a rapid growth stage in the journey of the company and help shape our Finance function.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will be working directly with the Financial Controller to maintain efficient finance and administration systems. Key tasks that will be tackled will include (but not be limited to) the following:
Finance Management:
* Purchase Ledger and PO System processing, including resolution of associated queries
* Bank Reconciliations and cash management including assistance with the treasury function across multiple accounts and currencies
* Manage twice monthly payment runs and gaining approvals within the business
* Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns, ensuring compliance with VAT regulations
* Assist FC with expanding accurate project reporting processes
* Manage expense reclaims.
* Additional work as required:
* Ad-hoc financial office management tasks
* Play a full part in the team to help address the needs of the business as they arise
* Offer constructive solutions to problems and issues, or opportunities, as they arise
* Undertake additional relevant tasks and projects when requested to do so.
Candidate Profile:
* The successful candidate should have previous accounting experience with the confidence to manage a busy bookkeeping and accounting role as part of a dynamic young company.
* Candidates will have partial AAT qualifications as a preference.
* Purchase ledger and facility with excel spreadsheets is essential.
* Experience with standard accounting packages - (Xero desirable)
* High levels of confidentiality, numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail
* Good communication skills, a professional and a courteous manner
* Good organisational skills and the ability to use own initiative
* Ability to think creatively and solve problems
* Team player, detail oriented and organised, with strong time management
* Strong numerical and analytical skills; Excellent written and presentation skills.
