Job Summary
We are looking for a positive, vibrant Practice Nurse who would like to join our friendly team for 3 to 4 days per week.
We are a multi-disciplinary practice with GPs, Pharmacists, HCAs, Physiotherapists, Paramedics and more.
Main Duties of the Job
To be enthusiastic and willing to join a forward-thinking General Practice team. Be able to take part in chronic disease management, vaccinations and immunisations, cervical screening, contraceptive reviews and wound care.
To provide support to healthcare assistants and will direct their work to ensure that the Practice provides high quality care.
You will take part in overseeing infection control standards and cold chain compliance.

Job Responsibilities
1. Participate in an annual appraisal
2. Actively participate in clinical and practice meetings
3. Develop clinical protocols for the surgery and the team
4. Provide chronic disease management for Diabetes, COPD, Asthma, and CHD/CVD
5. Perform cervical screening and promote breast awareness
6. Administer adult and paediatric injections
7. Provide adult and child immunisations ensuring full achievement of targets
8. Ensure safe storage, rotation, and disposal of vaccines and drugs
9. Undertake electrocardiography
10. Undertake wound care/management/dressing techniques
11. Undertake leg ulcer management, dopplers and compression bandaging
12. Provide advice on lifestyle issues, assisting and supporting patients in changing their unhealthy behaviours and refer appropriately
13. Deliver travel health care, including vaccinations and advice for patients
14. Recognise the signs of child abuse, family violence, vulnerable adults, substance abuse, addictive behaviours, suicidal tendencies, and be aware of local referral procedures
15. Work with safeguarding teams where relevant
16. Ensure that current evidence-based approaches to patient care are standard practice
17. Apply infection control measures when collecting and handling of laboratory specimens, disposing of waste materials, dealing with blood and body fluids spillages and report and treat sharps injuries
18. Undertake first aid and management of emergencies, e.g. burns, haemorrhages, hypo/hyperglycaemic emergencies/asthma attacks
19. Audit outcomes of care against standards and initiate change as necessary ensuring follow-up audit cycle

Essential:
* NMC register
Qualifications
Essential:
* Nursing degree or other relevant nursing qualification granting professional license to practice primary care nursing
* Qualified in chronic disease management for Diabetes, Asthma, COPD and CHD/CVD
* Wound dressing and leg compressions
* Cervical screening qualification
* Electrocardiography
Desirable:
* Previous experience of Care Quality Commission to achieve nursing-related indicators to a high standard
* Showing commitment and progression
