An exciting opportunity has arisen for Multiskilled Carpenter to join the Workshop team in the Department of Campus Infrastructure, dedicated to maintaining the upkeep University's buildings. You will undertake planned and unplanned maintenance activities in the University's academic buildings, residences, and sports facilities. You will also undertake some low-level electrical work and be expected to take part in the on-call rota that attracts an additional allowance. About you You should be professional, committed and hard-working, and someone who can work at an efficient pace on their own initiative or well with the other team members. Our ideal candidate will have: completed an apprenticeship in carpentry, building maintenance or similar discipline at NVQ Level 2 or equivalent a varied post apprenticeship experience a good understand of Health & Safety issues and familiar with basic risk assessments excellent customer care and communication skills a flexible approach to working using own initiative to prioritise and complete all tasks in a timely and professional manner Your responsibilities will include: Installing and repairing kitchens and bathrooms Refurbishing buildings Fitting new door and fire doors Fire door checking Repairing flooring Repairing locks and cylinders Repairing walls, groundworks Building furniture Making signs Further information Although not essential, we would also value basic knowledge of locksmithing, experience using woodworking machinery and an NVQ Level 3 in carpentry, building maintenance or similar. The work is mostly on the Claverton Down campus but occasionally in the city locations and a UK driving licence is required. This is a full-time role working 36.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday) although overtime opportunities may be available.
