Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Fitter
Fox Morris have partnered with a global leader in Test Automation Technology who are now hiring a Mechanical Fitter for their Rotating Equipment division. You will be responsible for assembling, aligning, installing, and repairing rotating machinery designed for use in engine, drivetrain or component test systems.
Objective:
1. Work in-house as part of the mechanical build team and aid work flow through the department.
2. Perform basic quality checks and tests of the work produced by the mechanical team.
3. Guide and support mechanical apprentices when required.
The role:
1. Read and interpret Drawings, Bills of Materials to assemble mechanical parts, products and assemblies.
2. Perform mechanical fitting of the range of designs produced by the Mechanical design team.
3. Mechanical or electrical alignment on all rotating equipment.
4. Ensure their own work is delivered to the highest possible standards and in a timely fashion.
5. Interpret technical drawings and provide feedback on errors/suggesting changes to originator using the company's ISO change control procedure if appropriate.
6. Support the team by addressing problems or issues that can be resolved within the department.
7. Check the build quality of work being produced by other team members as required and influence build standards for the department.
8. Highlight any issues with floor stock levels to ensure consumables are available for the mechanical team.
9. Complete all paperwork that is needed for the job and ensure it is accurate and up to date.
10. Help maintain a clean, tidy workshop environment and help ensure the works areas are organised.
11. Communicate effectively with the Production Supervisor.
12. Suggest improvements to designs and work practices to help improve efficiency through the department.
The candidate:
1. Extensive mechanical fitting experience (some fabrication experience would be beneficial).
2. Proficiency in working with rotating machinery.
3. Knowledge of alignment and balancing techniques.
4. Good attention to detail.
5. Have good problem-solving skills.
6. Methodical in approach.
7. Be able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
8. Be approachable and helpful.
9. Be able to train and guide less experienced members of staff.
10. A desire to learn and improve.
11. Good communication skills.
