Job Description
Manufacturing Engineer required for a long-term contract near Leicester (Min 18 Months, likely to become ongoing though). Around 15 mins Junc 21a M1. £36 / £38.50 FCSA Umbrella (Role is deemed inside IR35). £26 - £28ph PAYE.
The Manufacturing Engineer is expected to function as a specialist with respect to a specific technical phase of an increase in production significantly over the next 12-18 months, focusing on the process improvement function which generally falls within the area of Assembly of welded and fabricated machinery.
Work assignments may be specialized in nature but may also be broad-based with coordination between other staff personnel to complete a larger project. Responsibilities include:
1. Evaluating projects to define desired results and determine logical approaches.
2. Evaluating factors such as cost, personnel yearly usage, equipment, space, etc., as well as other information needed to determine requirements.
3. Preparing feasibility studies for appropriateness and cost-effectiveness and submitting recommendations accordingly.
4. Contributing to effective management decisions in determining the most efficient processes, methods, machinery, tools, equipment, services, and systems needed in the manufacture of products.
5. Developing, analyzing, and managing Manufacturing/Assembly/Fabrication Projects.
6. Demonstrating experience in Workforce Planning, Resource Planning, and increased work capacities during a significant increase in production.
7. Involving Process Improvement, Process Optimization, Design, Development, and implementation of Manufacturing Systems.
8. Exhibiting strong Project Management experience and demonstrating previous projects where production volume has significantly increased.
9. Leading, developing, and supporting Design for Manufacture Best Practices, Operation Excellence Process Validation Best Practices, and Lean Operation Excellence.
10. Engaging in creative problem solving to address operational issues including efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, and quality concerns.
11. Working with internal and external suppliers to develop and manage projects to ensure efficient and cost-effective systems and processes to produce quality products.
12. Providing the application, procurement, processing, installation, and capability of new fabrication, material handling, test, heat treat, welding, painting, and/or chemical processes and equipment.
13. Designing, developing, and implementing the integration of manufacturing systems including factory control software, scheduling techniques, simulation, and systems application.
14. Coordinating, planning, monitoring, and reporting the activities associated with flow analysis, design, financial modeling, and implementation of complex manufacturing group technology cells.
15. Coordinating the purchase and application of machine tools, controls, and related equipment corporate-wide to ensure the latest technology is used to increase efficiency and economy of operations.
16. Supporting the design of complex or intricate jigs and fixtures.
Essential Skills:
1. Previous experience within manufacturing of Sheet Metal, Fabrication, or Welded assemblies in a High Value, Low Volume environment.
2. Demonstrable experience in Workforce Planning, Resource Planning, and increased work capacities during a significant increase in production.
3. Expertise in Process Improvement, Process Optimization, Design, Development, and implementation of Manufacturing Systems.
4. Strong Project Management experience with proven results in increasing production volume.
5. Ideally, Price 2 Qualifications.
6. Experience with APQP/PPAP interpretation and recommendations related to Workforce/Labour allocation.
7. Demonstrable improvements in Processes and Process Optimization.
This position encompasses process improvement, tooling, plant engineering, supplier relationship building, releasing, machine shop, fabrication, assembly, etc., wherever a specific technical assignment may be needed.
Adheres to established standards, policies, and practices relating to quality, cost reduction, safety, ergonomics, etc., in performing assigned duties. This role is inside IR35, with a pay rate of £36 - £38.50 /hr FCSA Umbrella depending upon experience and qualifications. PAYE also available.
