Job Advertisement: Mechanical Fitters
Location: Doncaster
Role Overview:
As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll perform heavy fitting and overhaul work, meeting critical customer deadlines within a structured, safety-first environment. You'll work on a two-shift rota (mornings and afternoons), receiving a competitive shift allowance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures to ensure a safe workspace.
2. Maintain an organized, clean work area following 5S principles.
3. Perform tasks meticulously using route cards, SOPs, and work instructions.
4. Conduct manual handling in a safe, trained manner.
5. Actively engage in training opportunities to expand skill sets.
6. Wear appropriate PPE at all times and support a cooperative work atmosphere.
Qualifications & Experience
Preferred: Apprentice-trained engineer (mechanical discipline) or Minimum: Level 2 engineering qualification with a solid engineering background.
Experience in heavy engineering, ideally in rail (HGV, Bus, Aerospace, or Motor Mechanics backgrounds also welcome).
Basic computer skills, strong literacy/numeracy skills, and familiarity with work instructions.
Physical capability for tasks involving manual handling, crawling, and working with machinery.
Salary & Benefits
Starting Salary: £29,829 + 12.5% Shift Allowance (training period of approx. 3 months)
Post-Training Salary: £32,002 + 12.5% Shift Allowance
Shifts:
Morning: 6:00 am - 2:15 pm (Fridays 6:00 am - 12:00 pm)
Afternoon: 2:15 pm - 10:30 pm (Fridays 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm)
Benefits:
25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
5% pension contribution (employer/employee)
