Scope: The Service Delivery Manager (SDM) plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating hardware engineering programmes, with a strong emphasis on electronics, mechanical, and systems engineering projects. This position involves comprehensive management of service delivery, ensuring work packages meet technical requirements and client expectations. Acting as the primary interface between internal engineering teams and clients, the SDM fosters collaboration to deliver high-quality solutions while adhering to contractual obligations and project timelines. In addition to managing ongoing projects, the SDM scopes and defines new work packages, refines technical requirements, and supports tenders and bid submissions to secure future opportunities. By engaging stakeholders and evaluating client needs, the SDM ensures effective resource allocation to achieve project goals. Maintaining client satisfaction is central to the role, which includes risk management, issue resolution, and ensuring seamless project execution to support the growth of the organisation's engineering services portfolio. The SDM also leads direct line management, focusing on team development through performance reviews, addressing skills gaps, and implementing tailored professional development plans. By mentoring and coaching, the SDM drives continuous improvement, aligning team growth with organisational objectives to maintain a skilled, motivated workforce and ensure sustained success in delivering engineering solutions. Responsibilities: Manage the delivery of hardware engineering programmes across multiple disciplines, ensuring alignment with client specifications and company standards. Act as the main point of contact for clients, facilitating clear communication and strong relationships to drive project success. Scope, define, and develop proposals for new work packages, including resource planning and cost estimation. Collaborate with internal engineering teams to oversee project execution, ensuring adherence to technical and quality requirements. Monitor project risks, resolve issues, and implement mitigation strategies to maintain delivery timelines and outcomes. Support the growth of the organisation’s engineering services by contributing to bids, tenders, and strategic initiatives. Recruit technical experts in alignment with programme requirements and collaborate with the Resource Planning and Capacity Management team to ensure optimal staffing. Analyse and report on project and programme data to provide actionable insights and ensure informed decision-making. Drive team development through performance management, skills gap analysis, and tailored training programmes. Lead efforts to innovate and improve service delivery processes, enhancing efficiency and client satisfaction. Required Skills: Strong technical background in hardware engineering, including electronics, mechanical, and systems engineering. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective client relationships. Proven ability to manage complex projects, balancing technical, contractual, and client expectations. Leadership and team management experience, with a focus on performance development and mentoring. Problem-solving aptitude with the ability to anticipate challenges and implement effective solutions. Knowledge of risk management and quality assurance processes within engineering services. Required Experience: Demonstrated experience managing hardware engineering programmes, preferably in a client-facing capacity. Track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, while maintaining high quality standards. Experience in scoping and defining engineering work packages, including the preparation of proposals and tenders. Familiarity with industry-standard tools and methodologies for project management and engineering design. Required education: Degree in Engineering (e.g., Electronics, Mechanical, Systems) or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications are an advantage.
