Are you passionate about preventing homelessness in your local community?
Following the growth of the team, we are now looking for a Homeless Prevention Officer to join our committed team in tackling homelessness within the Borough.
As an experienced practitioner, you will have excellent working knowledge of Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. A typical day working in our Homelessness Prevention Team will involve managing a caseload, using a person-centred approach to undertake detailed housing options and support needs assessments, taking actions to prevent homelessness and making statutory homeless determinations. Primarily you will work with those at risk of homelessness and collaborate with internal and external partners including accommodation providers and community safety teams.
In addition to your existing experience and skills, you will apply a trauma informed approach to provide an effective homelessness prevention service for individuals and families, many of whom have multiple and complex vulnerabilities.
Our progressive attitude and successful social inclusion partnership has made significant achievements in preventing homelessness, reducing the use of interim accommodation and assisting the most vulnerable members of our community. The successful applicant will play a key role in continuing that record and will work across both our Homelessness Advice and Social Inclusion teams.
To find out whether we’re the right employer for you, please contact Ian.Farr@basingstoke.gov.uk or Nicola.Lee-Ratcliff@basingstoke.gov.uk for an informal chat.
