Job Title: Payroll and Bookkeeping Clerk
Role: To support the Accounts department with the operation of payroll for all clients and maintain bookkeeping and VAT for a number of clients.
Location: Newton Abbot
Hours: Full time – 35 hours. Part-time hours may be considered.
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Negotiable DOE
Responsibilities:
1. Main role will be to operate weekly, monthly, and annual payrolls for the department, including the operation of Pension Auto Enrolment. Submitting data to HMRC on a timely basis.
2. Setting up new payroll clients and encouraging growth in the department.
3. Drafting of quarterly payroll bills.
4. Dealing with HMRC payroll correspondence.
5. You will be introduced to several bookkeeping clients over time to do alongside the payrolls if that fits with the role.
6. Bookkeeping clients can be on either Sage, Xero, or Quickbooks.
7. Comply with internal policies and procedures, ethical and regulatory requirements, including money laundering checks.
Requirements:
1. Experience working in Practice, with at least 3 years payroll experience. Bookkeeping experience would be useful.
2. Experience with Sage payroll, accounts software, and Microsoft Office.
3. Excellent communication skills.
4. Ability to work in a team.
5. Technically able and capable of dealing with multiple tasks.
