An opportunity has arisen for an experienced HSE Manager to define, develop, and lead implementation of the UK HSE plan and to advise and ensure the most appropriate plan of delivery.
Reporting to the UK Head of Operations, the role will ensure effective planning, communication, training, and policy development to drive and embed a proactive Health & Safety culture that puts the health, safety, and welfare of all colleagues, visitors, and contractors as a first priority.
Key Accountabilities Include:
1. Identify and lead initiatives and targets to improve HSE performance.
2. Implement the H&S Policy across the UK and implement new policies and procedures as required.
3. Lead and develop on-site H&S Representatives and co-ordinate H&S meetings and ensure close out of action.
4. Ensure correct recording and investigation of incidents and accidents in line with legislation; ensure controls are in place to prevent recurrence.
5. Audit management systems & communicate findings to the senior leadership team. Identify and recommend solutions to comply with internal audit findings.
6. Advise the SLT of forthcoming legislation and its impact; ensure compliance and develop and maintain policies and ensure communication and implementation.
7. Undertake Risk Assessments in line with the Statutory Risk Assessment Policy. Advise on the identification, implementation, and maintenance of control measures identified.
8. Review and audit contractor control measures in line with Policy and Statutory Requirements and work with Engineering to ensure compliance of external contractors and development of policy and procedure.
9. Represent Dairygold in any dealings with the HSE and other external standards and bodies.
10. Set and maintain H&S budget.
11. Develop and deliver mandatory and development training and instruction.
12. Ensure adequate numbers of first aiders and fire wardens and that first aid provisions and equipment are in place and maintained.
Who are we looking for:
1. An experienced HSE professional, with demonstrable experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment preferred.
2. Hold a relevant professional qualification e.g. NEBOSH Diploma and be a chartered member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH).
3. Experience working with the HSE and other regulatory audit bodies; you will possess a detailed knowledge of current health and safety legislation and its application in a manufacturing environment.
4. Experienced in leading audits for ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
5. Ensure effective compliance and focus on H&S in all activity.
6. Experience of developing and co-ordinating project plans and demonstrable experience of designing and delivering effective HSE communication and development activities at all levels.
7. With dual site responsibility, you must be able to travel frequently to work from our Leeds site.
