Production Supervisor
Location: Woking
Salary: £35-40K
Overview:
Production Supervisor required to work for a specialist Engineering and manufacturing business based in Woking. You will be an experienced and hands-on supervisor who is used to managing a diverse team of fitters and assembly technicians. Working predominantly within the mechanical sector, you will be highly knowledgeable around the activities involving welding, fabrication, machined parts, sheet metal, and working to bespoke engineering drawings. All products are taken from concept through to assembly and shipping to customers from the head office base in Woking.
Responsibilities:
1. Support the Production Manager in driving the team to meet monthly targets and monitoring production output.
2. Resolve day-to-day issues and establish guidelines and processes to prevent future issues.
3. Complete Purchase Orders for items being sent to the paint shop and platers.
4. Order materials from the Purchasing Team where required.
5. Report factory performance results to both team members and the Production Manager.
6. Maintain quality service and manufacturing high-quality products by establishing and enforcing the organization’s standards.
7. Ensure the areas are organized using 5S and all equipment is serviced to ensure equipment availability and performance.
8. Enforce process adherence and a structured approach to continuous improvement.
9. Lead team briefs and toolbox talks daily and attend Contract Review Meetings in the absence of the Production Manager.
10. Display a positive attitude and provide hands-on support on builds to complete deadlines.
11. Work closely with other areas of the business to ensure both sides have the required parts to maintain a steady workflow.
12. Monitor employee absence, complete Return to Work interviews, and complete investigations where necessary.
13. Work with the Production Manager to ensure effective introduction of new products.
14. Liaise with management regarding any quality issues related to customer requirements (NCR) & supplier performance (ISO9001).
15. Enhance the skills of the existing team in assembly, welding, working to drawings, or general day-to-day activities.
16. Train junior members of staff in the day-to-day requirements of the role, health and safety, and support any further educational requirements they may have.
Key Skills:
1. Able to be hands-on and motivate others.
2. Managing production tasks and meeting deadlines.
3. Organization and efficiency, work ethic, and time management skills are essential.
4. Electrical or mechanical engineering knowledge.
5. Ability to read CAD or technical drawings.
6. Experience in a production environment.
7. Ideally A level qualification/HNC/equivalent or previous experience in this role.
