Job Title: Purchasing Administrator
Location: Shrewsbury
Thorn Baker has teamed up with a national specialist sub-contractor, who specialise in the design, build, commissioning, and maintenance of bespoke pump station solutions for the construction industry and have over fifty years of experience in the water industry. Due to growing business needs, they are offering an amazing opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Administrator to work in a growing, dynamic business within the construction supply industry. To start with, the role will be on a part-time, temporary basis (21 hours per week) but there is potential for this position to become permanent in the future, depending on business needs.

Required Skills:
1. Previous experience as an administrator, ideally in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain administration in construction, engineering, or manufacturing.
2. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
3. Excellent communication skills to liaise with suppliers and internal teams.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and experience with purchasing/ERP software is a plus.
5. Prioritise workload in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
6. A proactive approach to problem-solving and cost-saving initiatives.
Your Responsibilities:
1. Process purchase orders, liaise with suppliers, and ensure timely delivery of materials and components.
2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and reliable service.
3. Using current systems to ensure purchasing at correct levels and costs, reporting any potential overspend.
4. Maintain accurate purchasing records, invoices, and supplier agreements.
5. Work closely with project managers to understand material requirements and schedules.
6. Handle order discrepancies, delays, and supplier issues proactively.
