Job Description
We are seeking a committed and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated SEN team. The successful candidate will support classroom teaching, lead small group activities, and contribute to the development of a positive learning environment tailored to the needs of pupils with complex SEN.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with a range of special educational needs
* Lead small group or individual learning sessions under the direction of teaching staff
* Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
* Use sensory-based and alternative communication strategies to support learning and interaction
* Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
* Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
* Participate in staff meetings, training, and wider school activities
Requirements
* HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
* Previous experience working with students with PMLD or complex SEN
* Familiarity with PECS, Makaton, or other alternative communication methods
* A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to supporting learners
* Strong teamwork and communication skills
