Founded in 1883, Stockport County is one of the countrys longest established football clubs. Initially formed as Heaton Norris Rovers, the Club officially became Stockport County in 1890 after the County Borough of Stockport and has been based at Edgeley Park since 1902. The team currently competes in EFL League One, the third tier of the English Football League, after winning the 202324 EFL League Two title. We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development professional to join our team and drive revenue growth through commercial sales and partnerships for both the Football Club and its charitable arm, County Community Trust. The Business Development Executive will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and strategic partnerships for both organisations. This position will report directly to the Commercial Director while maintaining a strong relationship with the Trust CEO to ensure alignment with the overall organisational strategy and revenue targets. Roles and Responsibilities Commercial Sales: Identify and develop new business opportunities within the football industry, including sponsorships, partnerships, and licensing agreements which will benefit both Stockport County and County Community Trust. Negotiate and close commercial deals for the Club and Trust with potential partners, ensuring mutually beneficial arrangements. Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and exceed expectations. Charity Partnerships: Secure funding and support for charitable projects through corporate sponsorships and donations through developing commercial relationships. Team Collaborations: Work closely with other departments across the wider business (e.g. marketing, operations, finance) to ensure the successful execution of commercial and charitable initiatives. Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment. Qualifications and Skills Proven experience in business development or sales, preferably within the sports industry or charity sector. Strong understanding of the football industry and commercial landscape. Excellent negotiation and communication skills. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners. Results-oriented with a track record of achieving sales targets. Must possess a strong understanding of the Stockport and Greater Manchester area, including its businesses and local economy, as well as the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
