Sports Coach Supporting children with SEMH difficulties Blackburn Full-time role, 8.30am-3.30pm £12.90 per hour Flexible start This contract is due to go perm for the successful applicant Teaching Personnel have been approached by a specialist provision in Blackburn which caters for pupils aged 11-16 with complex social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. Many pupils who attend this school have not had a previously good experience at school and have been persistently absent from education. As a result, the pupils have large gaps in their learning and have low confidence levels in their academic ability. The school offers a therapeutic environment which allows the pupils to thrive. A varied curriculum is offered including vocational subjects as well as core subjects. The school also focuses on enrichment and connecting the pupils to their environment, as a result pupils should feel more engaged with their education and want to do well. As a sports coach you will be responsible for: Helping pupils to engage with their learning Be a learning coach and encourage pupils to engage with their education Use sports as a tool to encourage pupils Build positive relationships with pupils Praise good behaviour Deal with potentially difficult situations The role will include using a person’s sports background to help to build relationships with students.
