An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Resuscitation Education Team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (GHNHSFT).
The Resuscitation Education team work across the site of GHNHSFT delivering all levels of Resuscitation Education from basic to advanced to all levels of Trust staff. They also offer support and expertise at Resuscitation events as part of both Adult and Paediatric Resuscitation response.
This role provides variety day to day and a chance to teach on behalf of governing bodies such as the Resuscitation Council UK and The Advanced Life Support Group. There is a distinct Paediatric focus to this role to enable the Resuscitation Education service to meet Trust training requirements and ongoing service delivery.
In addition to the above, data collection and analysis relating to Resuscitation and Clinical Emergencies will enable nationwide benchmarking and help guide education focuses.
Team working qualities are key, as well as the ability to work alongside other multi-disciplinary professionals to deliver holistic education that is patient-focused. The ability to independently manage a collective workload and move various amounts of Resuscitation equipment and manikins for both clinical use and education is essential.
Main duties of the job
1. Deliver Resuscitation support courses to Trust staff ranging from basic to advanced life support courses for both adults & paediatrics.
2. Oversee and maintain governance related to resuscitation services.
3. Review and investigate Datix reports concerning resuscitation events and equipment to inform training and practice improvements.
4. Contribute to the management and oversight of emergency resuscitation equipment in all areas of the Trust.
5. Carry out audits of Trust resuscitation equipment.
6. Carry out data collection and audits of in-hospital cardiac arrests in line with the requirements for National Cardiac Arrest Audits (NCAA).
7. Be the subject matter expert for the Trust in all aspects of resuscitation.
8. Attend 2222 calls as an experienced member of the Resuscitation Team, responding to both deteriorating patients and Cardiac Arrests.
9. Support members of clinical staff and distressed patient carers/relatives when 2222 calls are put out.
10. Teach advanced resuscitation techniques, ensuring confidence and capability in learners.
11. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes and modify content to ensure continuous improvement.
12. Review and contribute to the development of new policies to improve resuscitation and simulation outcomes.

Qualifications
* Active registration with NMC / AHP
* Additional training in Acute speciality or equivalent experience
Experience
* Registered Nurse/AHP with considerable post registration experience including an Acute Speciality
* Demonstrable understanding of in-patient areas in Acute Hospitals
* Hold a current provider certificate in relevant life support courses (ILS/PLS/ALS/APLS)
* Hold a current instructor certificate to deliver Advanced Paediatric Life Support courses (e-PALS/APLS)
* Up to date knowledge of resuscitation science
* Computer literacy skills and experience using databases and spreadsheets at a high level to record and evaluate data
* Able to show a demonstrable and sustained interest in the field of resuscitation
* Experience of delivering resuscitation training at a basic level (BLS)
* Hold a current instructor certificate to deliver Advanced Adult Life Support courses (ALS)
* Ability to deliver a programme of targeted and regularly evaluated training

* Ability to work at a standard to ensure the resuscitation service is effective and high performing
