We are seeking a highly motivated, confident and enthusiastic individual to join our vibrant specialist company with at least 4 to 5 years experience of working within a Safety Advisory role.
About the role
Advantage NRG is looking to recruit a safety professional to work from its Preston office and its sites throughout the UK. The role will provide advice and support when planning and delivering its projects. The role will predominantly involve site travel throughout the UK. The role will require working under the SHEQ manager and supporting the administrative and operational teams. Enthusiasm, initiative, communication and a team-oriented attitude is a must.
Primary functions of the role
* Improve and innovate the company’s safety management systems, ensuring they remain dynamic, effective, and seamlessly integrated into business operations while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
* Strategically develop and execute competency-based training programs, ensuring employees receive the necessary skills and knowledge to maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient workplace. Deliver high-impact safety training that fosters a culture of continuous learning and awareness.
* Build strong relationships with employees, external partners, clients, and regulatory authorities, acting as a key representative to enhance safety culture, promote best practices, and strengthen the company’s reputation.
Essential functions of the role
* Support and maintain the company safety management system based on a plan, do, check and act model.
* Stay at the forefront of health, safety, and environmental legislation, proactively advising leadership on compliance with British Standards, approved codes of practice, and regulatory changes that impact business operations.
* Drive a proactive risk management culture by overseeing and continuously improving the company’s risk management systems, ensuring robust compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations while integrating best industry practices.
* Monitor working practices, policies and procedures for activities that impact the safety and well-being of employees.
* Support the SHEQ Manager with the development & review of risk assessments and recommend suitable control measures for hazardous work activities or equipment.
* Lead comprehensive audits and workplace inspections to assess environments, equipment, and operational processes, identifying gaps, mitigating risks, and ensuring alignment with evolving safety regulations.
* Promote and enhance leadership commitment and overall safety culture within the business personally demonstrating safety standards expected.
* Work along with the SHEQ Manager in incident and accident investigations, utilizing root cause analysis techniques to identify underlying issues, implement preventive measures, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
* Support the regular review of the safety management system and recommend necessary changes to allow its continual improvement and development.
* Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor safety compliance, identify potential hazards, and assess the effectiveness of existing safety measures. Ensure all safety protocols are being followed and provide recommendations for corrective actions as necessary.
* Oversee and maintain external accreditations and certifications, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks, proactively preparing for audits, and positioning the company as an industry leader in safety and quality standards.
* Ensure integrity and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
* Represent the business to support and enhance its reputation and maintain its high standards of professionalism, integrity, ethics and core values.
Essential qualifications:
* One to Two years of experience in a relevant health and safety role post-NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
* Tech IOSH membership as minimum with 2 years of experience in a previous role
* A full UK driving licence
